Chapel Brampton (not actually in the village, rather on the very outskirts of Northampton)


The site where the pub now stands was formerly the Boughton Cold Store, used for the storage of butter and margarine which could then be transported by the nearby railway line which closed in 1981 and is now part of the Northampton & Lamport Railway

The name "windhover" comes from an old word for a kestrel, and these birds can often be seen nearby, hovering with their heads to the wind as they search for prey

General Description

The Windhover, Chapel Brampton

The Windhover is a Vintage Inn, a brand owned by Mitchells & Butlers, although it was built in the 1990s the building was designed to look "traditional" and already blends in with the local area

A stone pathway leads from the rear car park to the front entrance, lit by old-fashioned lamp posts during the hours of darkness

There is a large beer garden which is popular during the summer months

Inside the well-stocked bar is flanked by an open-plan seating area on one side, and an intimate restaurant with many nooks on the other

Food can be served to any table, and guests are given a numbered spoon when ordering
